Welcome and thank you for visiting our site. We are the Carty Family and we are independent missionaries in Costa Rica with a ministry focused on the Guaymi Indigenous People Group (the Ngäbe). We love Jesus and are excited about sharing his love with each of these beautiful people. Please pray with us for the the Guaymi. Pray that Jesus will be real and alive to them. Pray that they will see Him as the answer to each of their problems. Pray that we will live our lives in such a manner that others will not see us, but will see the glory and love of Jesus Christ!
As independent missionaries we have the freedom to taylor our ministry as the Holy Spirit leads. The Lord has lead us to a multi-pronged approach to reaching the Guaymi people that includes meeting physical needs, spiritual needs, and educational needs. Doors have been opened for us not only to minister to the Guaymi on their reservation, but also in San Vito, the city that we live in.
A large part of our ministry is providing opportunities for groups to come work with the Guaymi on short-term mission trips. We have been blessed by several churches and individuals who the Lord has sent to work with us and would encourage you to prayerfully consider how the Lord might have you join in His work. Please view the Our Ministry with the Guaymi page on this web site for more information.
Our ministry is completely dependent on support from people like you. We need your prayer, physical presence, and financial support. We cannot do what we do here without your help nor would we want to! We desire to help you accomplish what God has planned for you and sharing Jesus' love in this far off land.
Guaymi or Ngäbe?
When working cross-culturally, terminology can often become confusing. We have seen this be the case with the name of the people group that we are working with. To the majority of the world they are known as the Guaymi. This name was given to them after the Spanish conquest and it's origin is in dispute. The name that is used by the indigenous themselves is Ngäbe(Nyaw-bay). Thoughout this website you will find both terms used. Guaymi because this site is designed for non-indigenous people who most likely are only familiar with the Guaymi name. Ngäbe out of respect to the culture and to educate those who do not know the term. Please know that nothing derogatory is meant by the use of either name and when we interact with the indigenous we use the term Ngäbe. For more information of the Guaymi/Ngäbe people, please explore
the Guaymi/Ngäbe section of this site.

To simplify things for our donors and to provide a U.S. based home office, we are affiliated with World Outreach Ministries. They are a 501-c3 missionary servicing organization with over thirty years of experience providing
support and accountability for independent missionaries. They handle all donations from our supporters and promptly supply documentation for tax purposes.
